The next “registration day” is coming!

Registration for Dresden opens Sunday, May 11th, 2025 at 12:00. We will again be using the EVENTBRITE system for registration – please use this link:

There is a separate ticket for each instrument – ​​for vocals, please select “female” or “male.” Guitar 1 and Guitar 2 all register under GUITAR.

There are also two different COMPANION registrations. One is for accompanying jammers under 16, and one is for (up to 2) companions to the rehearsals – i.e. family – who want to / are allowed to accompany you on Thursday and Friday. Ideally, participants and companions should be booked together.

IMPORTANT: Please fill out the registration form slowly and carefully and DO NOT click away before you are asked to enter your names and answer the additional questions. Please, please look at the information slowly and fill it out.

EVEN MORE IMPORTANT: Please register only if you can definitely attend, we want to avoid NO SHOWS. You can also cancel a booking yourself on Eventbrite – you just need to go through it carefully for two minutes and you can manage it – so you can also cancel via the system – it’s easiest for everyone and you give other jammers a chance to take their place.

ALSO IMPORTANT: Please only register once – for previous concerts, people have registered twice, sometimes three times. Please only register once and complete the registration form to the end. And NO, please DO NOT register for the individual days, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday – only one registration per jammer, and it’s valid for all days. Please also register companions – it’s all done in one process. Slowly and carefully – then everything will be easy.

Companions should remain seated in the lower tier during rehearsals. Companions of jammers under 16 are allowed on the field/stage – but should also remain in the lower tier as far as possible. There is direct access from the spectator seats to the playing field.

During registration, three additional questions will be asked (of participants):

1) T-shirt size

2) Song of choice – there are five songs to choose from – we’ll play one of them

3) Newbie or experienced – Click which TGJ concerts you’ve already attended or if you’re new to the band.

17 songs have already been chosen for Dresden. There will be two more songs that have a special connection to Dresden or “the East.” You can look forward to some great new songs. We’ll finish the tutorials right after our concert in Frankfurt.

You can choose the 20th song yourself. There will be a request for the song of your choice during the registration process, and there are five songs to choose from, none of which we’ve played in Dresden yet.

Jammers get ready!

In just under 4 weeks, the time has come: We’ll rock the stadium and we claim the record as the world’s largest live band.

Yesterday, “Schwarz-weiß wie Schnee” was announces as the last song left for the program in Frankfurt – the song is part of the “Anthems of Eintracht – Trilogy.”

What else is happening / what else is important?

PRODUCTION

We are in the middle of preparing for the production in the stadium – the details and coordination with partners for sound, lights, pyrotechnics, video, drones, LEDs, and much more are on full throttle. Contracts/assignments worth several hundred thousand euros have been/will be awarded, and everyone is looking forward to a great show with THE GRAND JAM.

TUTORIALS

All the tutorials/PDF sheet music have been uploaded – we are still working on some of the corrections – this happens continuously and with priorities regarding the importance of changes. Changes to the lyrics have priority for now, because we have to prepare the lyrics for display on the LED banners as well.

We are also currently doing a general “inventory” of the tutorials. Although the Hidrive is actually write-protected, versions from the Hidrive sometimes disappear (this could be due to synchronization). In any case, we are going through everything again and adding missing versions – especially guitars, for example, where we provide a total of 7 different versions. We will make sure that we complete everything again or, for example, add the trumpet in C where it is still missing.

VIDEO PLAY-ALONGS (with SHEET MUSIC)

The creation of the VIDEO PLAY-ALONGS with running sheet-music is currently on hold – but we’ll try to have all the music running by the concert in May.

VIDEO SING-ALONGS (with CHOREO)

We’re prioritizing the creation of the VIDEO SING-ALONGS now so that we’ll have as many of the songs as possible with CHOREO available as videos next week.

THE HANDBOOK

Version 001 of the manual (THE HANDBOOK) should hopefully have answered many of your questions – updates to the manual will follow if significant changes occur or to provide more details. In general, there has never been so much information before any THE GRAND JAM concert before.

If you have any questions, please always check the homepage or the handbook first, and especially read the first page of the handbook again, where it states that we cannot make individual arrangements for each jammer.

U16 JAMMER AND COMPANIONS

U16 means UNDER 16 – that means under 16 years old – that means at 16, you are no longer under 16 but 16 – so U16 is only relevant for jammers up to and including 15 years of age. The deadline is the first day of rehearsal, May 22nd – so anyone who is still 15 on May 22nd is U16. Anyone who is 16 on May 22nd is no longer U16 – regardless of how old they were when they registered.

WAITING LIST

We are increasing the numbers for FEMALE VOCALS and GUITAR a bit, so everyone on the waiting list can now register regularly.

All sections are fully booked – we currently have 1,227 registered jammers. We’re going for the record!

GOING INTERNATIONAL

THE GRAND JAM going international hasn’t been forgotten – but of course, launching a project abroad is even more complex than it already is within Germany. We’re still working hard on this and plan to announce the “International News” at the concert in Frankfurt.

CHALLENGE

We’ve received a lot of video submissions for the “Tage wie diese” challenge. We’re downloading videos every now and then, and there are so many great ones. The original deadline was April 24th – but since some of you have already written to us saying you’d like to send us something, go ahead… we’re happy to extend the deadline again until May 2nd – Friday.

Welcome to all new jammers – we are delighted that you want to join THE GRAND JAM. New jammers register every day and there are many new registrations, especially in and around Düsseldorf.

REGISTRATION FRANKFURT

We will start REGISTRATION for Frankfurt on:

Sunday, March 30, 2025 at 12 noon (CEST)

ATTENTION: Daylight saving time begins on the night from Saturday to Sunday 🙂

What is the REGISTRATION about? It’s REGISTRATION for binding participation in the concert in Frankfurt. It’s about Frankfurt, only Frankfurt, so basically Frankfurt, not Dresden and not Düsseldorf… just Frankfurt.

There will be a special newsletter about this where everything will be explained again.

It’s important now: Please only register if you are 100% sure that you want and can participate – we want to set the world record as the largest band in the world, and for that, it’s especially important that you keep your registration binding.

To participate, it is mandatory that you attend all rehearsals – from Thursday to Saturday. The only exceptions to this are, for example, students who can’t get a day off school.

We’re looking forward to the record number of attendees and to once again putting on a unique concert in Frankfurt.

SONGS

The concert in Frankfurt is entitled “100 Years of Waldstadion Edition” and we will play songs from the musical history of the stadium.

Several new tutorials have been released in the last few weeks and of course we will be continuing with the next songs as soon as possible. You can look forward to lots of great songs.

Under SONGS on the website you will always find the current song lists for all of our concerts. The song lists are always up to date. The order of the songs has not yet been determined – so they are currently sorted alphabetically.

We are working hard on arrangements, sheet music, mixing and videos so that we can quickly provide you with new tutorials.

By the way, there will again be a program booklet for the concert in Frankfurt, which will provide background information on the songs and the history of the stadium.

TAGE WIE DIESE / FRANKFURT

German band Die Toten Hosen opened for U2 at a concert at the Waldstadion in 1993, so we’ll be including the song “TAGE WIE DIESE” in our Frankfurt program. During the YouTube LIVE session, we initially referred to the song as a “reserve song”—but the need for a reserve song is there already, and we’ll include the song to the program. This means “TAGE WIE DIESE” will be played at all concerts in 2025.

T-SHIRT COLOR 2025

When you attend a THE GRAND JAM concert, you’ll receive a t-shirt as a gift and souvenir. This year, the t-shirts at all concerts will be RED, and with that, we are launching the official “THE GRAND JAM T-Shirt Collection.”

JAMMER’S CHOICE SONG FRANKFURT

The concert in Frankfurt is themed “100 Years of Waldstadion,” and we’ll be playing songs by artists who have performed at the stadium.

There are also many stars who unfortunately never played a concert at the Frankfurt stadium, but it would have been nice if they had. Here we’re giving you nine songs to choose from, one of which we’ll include in the program as “Jammer’s Choice.”

The vote will be sent with your registration, and you can choose your favorite song during registration.

The song will then be selected from those registered during the first week and communicated to you, so you’ll have plenty of time to practice the song.

Except for Mr. Brightside, the tutorials for all songs are also available online. However, you’ll find a “Check Out the Song” video for Mr. Brightside to give you an idea of ​​what this song looks like. We already played Mr. Brightside at the first THE GRAND JAM 2023 in Frankfurt.

You can find all “Check out the song videos” in the download folder at the very end of the SONGS page (where our song lists for each concert are at the very end).

ORIENTATION OF STAGE FRANKFURT

At the concert in Frankfurt, we will reverse the orientation of the stage, meaning we will be playing in the direction of the Jürgen Grabowski stand instead of the main stand. This has the advantage of providing more seats in the lower tier – these are our most popular seats, and we need more of them. Additionally, we have more space for wheelchair users and their companions on that side. Catering services for guests are also better on that side, so reversing the direction of play will only have positive effects.

There will be no changes to the tickets (including those already purchased) – lower tier tickets will remain lower tier, and upper tier tickets will remain upper tier. The advantage is that we will have more seats available both lower and upper – especially in the central area.

There will also be a VIP area on the other side, meaning VIP tickets will remain VIP tickets and remain valid.

TAGE WIE DIESE / CHALLENGE

In the past, we’ve occasionally given you songs as “challenges” to play at home. This means you record yourself performing the song at home (video and, if possible, audio), and we create a complete video from the video. At the same time, you can naturally show us how hard you’ve practiced and how well you can already play the song.

All vocals and instruments can (and should) participate in the challenge. The video should be submitted with sound. The sound can be either you alone or you together with the tutorial sound—both are possible. If your sound is on the video, please count the song out loud, say 1, 2, 3, 4 in time before the start, or include four “beats or notes” on your instrument as a count.

Film the videos only in landscape format and from a fixed camera — so no camera movement and no “cuts” in the recording. The simpler, the better – we need as consistent raw material as possible and not a Hollywood production 😉

And – most importantly: Laugh, dance, and show your joy!

THE GRAND JAM should be fun for you, and that needs to be reflected in the video.

How it works:

2) Record a video (with audio from just you or the overall audio)

3) Give the video a clear name:

a) Name the instrument (vocals, drums, bass, guitar 1/2, keyboard, brass, strings)

b) Include your name in the file name

4) If you can’t change the file name, include a short text with your instrument and your name when uploading the file.

7) By uploading the video, you agree that your video may be included in the overall video and published on THE GRAND JAM channels.

8) The deadline for submitting videos is April 24, 2025 – exactly one month before our concert in Frankfurt.

If you simply don’t have the possibility to submit a video – you don’t need to send us a separate email explaining why – we understand that not all jammers have the chance, so it’s not a big deal. But for everyone who submits a video, it’s a great opportunity to show us your talent. So please take advantage of this opportunity.

PROMOTION

Many thanks to all the jammers who participated in the WINTER GAME on January 4, 2025. We made a fantastic contribution to the entertainment program, and by the time “ANGELS” came on, the entire stadium was in our hands, singing along enthusiastically.

On March 30, 2025, there will be another small promotional gig in Frankfurt. At the FINAL FOUR wheelchair basketball tournament, we will perform a song and promote THE GRAND JAM. We are looking for approximately 20 vocalists and 10 people with guitars, basses, brass, or strings – just instruments that you can hold or carry in your hand. No amplifiers, etc., are needed on site, as we will do everything playback.

We will send the registration invitation “only” via WhatsApp, because we will also create a WhatsApp group to distribute the information for easier on-site organization. So if you want to join us and aren’t in one of the official newsgroups yet, you should join now. You can find links to the groups almost everywhere – feel free to check the homepage or the handbook.

BUT IMPORTANT: We need 30 people, and there are about 2,500 people in the official WhatsApp groups – so it will go incredibly fast until the spots are filled. Don’t be upset if it doesn’t work out – it’s “just” a promotional gig 🙂

THE GRAND JAM SONG

After our summer concerts, we’ll be starting the “THE GRAND JAM SONG” project. You can then submit your compositions, and a jury of our coaches/arrangers will select the best idea for a THE GRAND JAM SONG, which we will then professionally produce and play at concerts no later than 2026.

INTERNATIONAL

Finally we have some exciting news about the future of THE GRAND JAM, we’ll soon be announcing our first international THE GRAND JAM concert.

We’ll announce when and where in the next few weeks.

Through YouTube and TikTok in particular, we’re seeing that we already have many fans around the world who desperately want us to play concerts internationally. We want to make this happen as soon as possible and are excited to make fans happy with every concert – no matter where in the world.

Important: We don’t expect 1,000 jammers (from Germany / Europe) to fly to Canada to play THE GRAND JAM there. We want to expand our jammer community worldwide with international concerts. But of course, there will be some people who will come along, and conversely, Canadians will also be at our concerts in Germany, and that’s precisely our goal: to build bridges between musicians all over the world. Look forward to many more bridges to come.
