THE GRAND JAM sets world record
World record in Frankfurt: THE GRAND JAM set a new world record as “largest live rock band” at Deutsche Bank Park with 1,231 musicians. The record was confirmed, and officially certified by the German Record Institute (RID) in the presence of almost 20,000 spectators.
The musicians participated from all over the world, of all ages and musical backgrounds. In addition to 600 singers, over 150 drummers, around 200 guitars, 80 bassists, and numerous keyboards, trumpets, trombones, saxophones, violins, violas, and cellos formed the world’s largest live rock band.
The musicians had been accompanied for months on their journey to the performance of their lives. In preparation for THE GRAND JAM, instructional videos and playbacks were created for each song and instrument. A total of around 250 instructional videos and 600 play-along tracks ensured optimal preparation. The stage for the “Jammers” was set inside the Deutsche Bank Park. Eight trucks delivered around 40 tons of equipment for the production. 500 stage platforms, 800 microphones, and equipment for 350 spotlights, 20 cameras, a live drone, and a 360-degree camera were used. Around 200,000 watts of speaker power ensured perfect sound. The musicians were equipped with wireless headphones for their performance.
This year, THE GRAND JAM was dedicated to the “100 Years of Waldstadion” anniversary. The song selection was based on the stadium’s musical history. This included Eintracht Frankfurt’s anthems as well as a colorful mix of songs from the Waldstadion’s early concert phase up to the more recent past.
Patrik Meyer, initiator of THE GRAND JAM and head of the stadium in Frankfurt: “After the orchestra world record in 2016, we are happy to secure another entry in the RID record archive with THE GRAND JAM. The record-breaking musicians practiced many hours at home to be perfectly prepared for the big concert in the stadium. The world record is the reward and recognition for their commitment and enthusiasm for music. We congratulate and thank all world record holders!”
Olaf Kuchenbecker, record judge from the German Record Institute (RID): “The emotional power emanating from the many different musicians here is truly unique. I am thrilled and congratulate everyone on their official world record!”
